Training Goal and Description
The goal of this training is to increase leadership and creativity among mid- and senior-level managers in Asian & Pacific Islander (A&PI) community-based organizations across the nation and the Pacific region, so that participants can better address issues of resource planning and management in their HIV prevention programs.
This training will build leadership skills and then utilize these skills to train participants in increasing the efficiency of HIV prevention programs. Participants will take part in interactive small group exercises, and will learn by arriving at their own insights.
Target Audience
The target audience is HIV prevention program management and supervisors across the United States and the Pacific Island Jurisdictions working with A&PIs who are interested in learning and sharing their knowledge on how they manage limited resources and continue to provide HIV prevention programs with reduced funding.
Additionally, the following target audiences have been prioritized and include:
- Managers/Supervisors from organizations who receive CDC funds to conduct HIV prevention programs specifically for A&PI communities through their health department or a subcontract through another CDC-funded community-based organization, including A&PI people living with HIV/AIDS
- Mangers/Supervisors from non-CDC funded organizations who are conducting HIV prevention interventions in A&PI communities, including A&PI people living with HIV/AIDS
- Managers/Supervisors from other organizations working on HIV-related issues (such as sexually transmitted diseases, domestic violence, family planning, teen pregnancy) in A&PI communities who have an interest in doing HIV prevention work, including A&PI people living with HIV/AIDS
Space is limited due to funding constraints.
cost
Registration is free and scholarships for travel are available for selected participants. A&PI Wellness Center will arrange and pay for lodging for the duration of the training. Ability to pay will not be a factor in the participant selection process. Please note that A&PI Wellness Center requires selected participants to commit to attending the entire training
Please send in your application early so that we can secure your flights at lower cost. This will enable us to accept more participants into this training, especially those from the Pacific Islands. Your collaboration in this matter is greatly appreciated.
