PRESS CONFERENCE: National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness
Day
The Banyan Tree Project, A&PI Wellness Center's national anti-stigma campaign, is hosting a press conference the morning of May 19th to discuss the impact of HIV on A&PI communities. Panelists include James Kyson Lee, 2008 Banyan Tree Project spokesperson and star of NBC's hit series "Heroes"; Ongina, a contestant on RuPaul's "Drag Race" and an outspoken leader living with HIV; and Dr. Tri Do, an epidemiologist and researcher at UCSF. TRANS:THRIVE SAYS HELLO TO NIKKI "TITA AIDA" CALMA
April 1 was a bittersweet day for TRANS:THRIVE and the A&PI Wellness Center family. Luke Woodward, the TRANS:THRIVE Program Manager, said goodbye to pursue a Master’s of Social Work at Smith College. Nikki “Tita Aida” Calma, one of A&PI Wellness Center’s longest serving staff members, will now manage TRANS:THRIVE. This Saturday, April 10, 2010, Noel Yin and his partner Billy Chen invite you to come dine at Mission Street Food, with a percentage of the proceeds to go to A&PI Wellness Center. As the evening’s guest chef Noel Yin is an expert of the fission/fusion boundaries between various East Asian and French cuisines. Mission Street Food is a novel restaurant that seeks to be a charity-giving engine, showcasing new guest chefs, along with a charitable organization.
