Transgender Programs

Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center has been serving the transgender community of San Francisco since 1994. From the very first TG program, dubbed ATE (Asian & Pacific Islander Transgender Empowerment) Program, the agency has been successfully providing street and club outreach, HIV prevention and support workshops, retreats, linkages to services, seminars and events to many transgender individuals in San Francisco.

Today, A&PI Wellness Center is proud to have this coalition of transgender programs that serve the various segments of the transgender community. Get to know the various programs by clicking to their respective icon.

TG Winter Ball-Our Thanks

New Beginnings: Living Life as a Transgender Filipina. I remember being in the fifth grade. I felt very strongly that there was something different about me - different from the rest of the boys. I had a lot in common with the girls that I played with. Being the youngest of five, I was always afraid to show my real feelings about myself.

Testimony submitted to the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders provides an overview to the history and challenges faced by Transgendered Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as well as policy recommendations for the future.

A Wonderful Feeling: An Interview with Cecilia Chung. Transgender activist and San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee President talks about her personal history and her vision for the future.
