Holiday Splendor: ATE Winter Ball 2007
The Asian & Pacific Islander Transgender Empowerment (A.T.E.) Program celebrates the holidays with “Winter Splendor” in the beautiful Grand Ballroom atop the Crowne Plaza Hotel. “Winter Splendor,” ATE’s 2007 Winter Ball, is a celebration of life and light for the A&PI Transgender Community, our supporters, and allies.
The surrounding view out of the ballroom was spectacular. The scene inside was even more breathtaking with the attendees who were garbed in different shades of blue and silver, the theme colors, as well as other bright and festive holiday colors. The ATE Winter Ball is a much anticipated event for A&PI transgender women as it offers an opportunity to see old friends and make new ones in a fun, wholesome, and affirming environment. The ATE Winter Ball is truly an empowering event for all.
“Winter Splendor” attendees were treated to a sumptuous banquet and entertainment emceed by the illustrious Tita Aida (ATE program coordinator). The program consisted of amazing song performances by Jesse and Kim of Ichiban, and the crowning of the Ms. Winter Ball Queen. The Winter Ball Queen this year is Erica Reyes and she will be ATE program’s representative of empowerment for 2008. The program also highlighted the work of ATE collaborators. This year, the Transgender Employment Empowerment Initiative was recognized as ATE community partner and honored as an excellent program for the San Francisco Bay Area Transgender Community.
“Winter Splendor” was a beautiful success for the ATE program, the Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center, and most especially for the A&PI Transgender community, our supporters, allies, and friends.
The ATE team (Tita Aida, Lally, and Darel) sends our warmest Holiday greetings and a big Thank you! to our clients, friends, community collaborators, and volunteers. You all truly made the Winter Ball a great affair and the ATE program successful in the work that we do with the A&PI transgender community.
