Volunteer at Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center

Twice a year, we hold one-day Volunteer and Peer Leader trainings for those who want to become volunteers at A&PI Wellness Center or want to learn more about our organization.

Volunteer opportunties In Our WELLNESS CLINIC:

Volunteer Clinic Receptionists
Receive and register patients; make/cancel appointments; provide referrals to other departments or services; assist walk-in patients obtain appropriate appointments or services; facilitate patient flow; and assist patients in completing required documents.

Volunteer Medical Assistants
Volunteer Medical Assistants meet with patients to take medical history, check and record vital signs; ensure physician or nurse has needed supplies, instruments, and equipment; sterilize/clean equipment; prepare/set-up treatment rooms; ensure treatment rooms are clean and orderly; and assist physicians and nurses in providing treatment.

Volunteer Physician’s Assistants
Under the direct supervision of a physician (with a Physician’s Assistant Supervisory license), provide primary care to clinic patients including: taking histories and performing routine physicals; diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries. Volunteers must have California licensure as a Physician’s Assistant.

Volunteer HIV Test Counselors
Volunteer HIV Test Counselors conduct on-site and mobile HIV risk assessments, provide disclosure counseling, and perform HIV tests. Volunteers must have current California HIV Test Counselor Certification.
