Thanks for Participating in the 4th Annual A&PI Women & Girls Day event!

Due to ongoing funding challenges and program changes, Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center has decided to suspend its Women's Program, effective October 31, 2004. A&PI Wellness Center has developed plans for transitioning outreach services to the Department of Public Health. Prevention Case Management services will be suspended. However, women who work in massage parlors and are in need of case management services can contact our health educators for limited services and referrals.

For the past six years, the Women's Program has served Asian and Pacific Islander (A&PI) women with a unique focus on individuals who work in massage parlors in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. These services include outreach and delivery of safer sex supplies, prevention case management, and HIV and sexual health education. The Women's Program also offers Cultural Sensitivity Training to service providers.

Clients have been informed of the program's closing, and the agency has gathered feedback from them regarding this decision.

The Board of Directors and staffs of Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center remain committed to serving A&PI women across our agency's programs and in collaboration with other service providers. A&PI Wellness Center continues to provide services to women via its Care Services as well as general health education services for transgender women.
