Women's Wellness Day 2001 |

On Thursday, March 8, 2001, Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness
Center (A&PIWC) hosted its first Asian & Pacific Islander Women's
Wellness Day to mark International Women's Day. Guests were
offered free consultations with health care and legal service
providers, health screenings and oral HIV testing and also received
free gift bags with health care and beauty products.
The event also included a presentation and entertainment. Emceed
by Nikki "Tita Aida" Calma, entertainment included hula by Tatiana
Kaneholani and a Filipino experimental folk dance performance
by Alberto Vajrabukka and Bryan Pangilinan. Organized as part
of A&PIWC's Testing 1... 2... 3... campaign, nineteen people
were tested for HIV using the Orasure oral HIV test.
